Robert J. Gerberg Jr. Dispenses Advice on How to Find Work in Other Industries

16 May 2011

In one of his recent interviews, Robert J. Gerberg Jr. shares essential tips to employed individuals who feel their career is at a dead-end and are looking for greener pastures elsewhere.

The first thing that Robert J. Gerberg Jr. cautions people on the lookout for new or better jobs is not to restrict themselves to the competition of their current employer. He encourages people instead to explore all their options, and that includes trying out jobs in different industries – even if they don’t have experience for it. In the end, it’s only a matter of knowing what your skills are and portraying them in the best light possible. There’s no harm in trying, after all, and the best HR professionals know that potential is just as important as experience. A person with no industry experience can still get hired as long as he proves to his future employer that he’s worth the risk and that, after training, his performance at work will be superb.

Of course, it’s also a matter of choosing the right industries to apply in, says Robert J. Gerberg Jr. But not to worry as this can be done mostly online and with the help of friendly Mr. Google and other major search engines. He advises career-minded people to start by looking for magazines and other printed media that target readers from a particular industry. From there, they can try reading two or three of its lead articles. If they have no problems grasping what’s being said and find it interesting, then that’s it. They’ve found their prospective new career home.
